The School is having a one-day taster session in Indian, Mughal and Persian miniature painting styles with a renowned miniature painter/educator and pioneer of Indo-Persian Painting in the UK, Dr. Fatima Zahra Hassan.
Dr Hassan has taught miniature painting for over twenty-five years in the UK and abroad. She has taught at the V&A Museum, the British Museum London, Birkbeck College, London University, and the School of Traditional Arts, The King's Foundation London.
One-day summer taster session aims at its learners to introduce them to the basics of painting certain elements from the Indo-Pak Subcontinent, Iran, Ottoman, Arab and Central Asian painting traditions. It is a unique one-day summer taster session, and students are encouraged to apply from all backgrounds.
The students/learners will be introduced to this beautiful art form by drawing or tracing certain elements from classical paintings, such as a bird, an animal, or a flower, using traditional methods, materials, and techniques.
The workshop will be held at an accessible location in London (please see the venue). The course fee is 100/- GBP inclusive of primary materials ( paper, fine brushes, colour pigments, etc...). Each student will get a summer taster starter pack. Please bring yourself any beautiful relevant image you wish to draw and paint. The learners will be provided with tea and coffee. The venue has its Cafe for lunch, tea and coffee.
Dr Hassan will hold the summer school in collaboration with the School of Miniature Painting London and FZH Atelier London. We advise students to book in advance due to its popularity. Please email fzhatelier@yahoo.co.uk or info@somp.org.uk for further details.
Refunds will only be allowed if the cancellation is requested more than seventy-two hours before the session's commencement. Or the fee can be used for similar painting sessions offered by the artist/tutor at a different time of the year.
